2022-2023 Season Learn to Play Information

The 2022-2023 Learn to Play (LTP) full season cost is $220 for all players and is due at signing of contract.  The full season has 24 practices, all on Saturdays from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm at Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center.  The season starts October 1, 2022, and ends March 25, 2023, with no practice scheduled for December 3, 2022, and January 14, 2023, due to no ice availability.  Please note that rink schedules can change throughout the season and any changes will be communicated.

To provide flexibility as players determine their interest in hockey, the Utah Junior Grizzlies are providing the following:

  1. Players registering after the season begins will receive a prorated refunded based on the number of practices available at the time of registration as compared to the full season.
  2. Should a player decide to withdraw from the LTP program, a prorated refund for the remaining practices will be provided based on the written notification of withdrawal receipt date by the Utah Junior Grizzlies.
  3. If during the season a player's skill level is considered to have advanced to a level where team play is considered appropriate for their continued development, that player will be provided an option to join the Mini Grizz program for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season.

As part of the registration process players will need to first register with USA Hockey.  USA Hockey registration may have a fee based on the player's age and that fee is separate from the LTP session registration fee.  USA Hockey registration is valid for one season.

LTP is intended for 6U and 8U age group players.  For the 2022-2023 season, this includes birth years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.   Also, LTP is designed for players with prior skating experience, that have an interest in learning to play hockey.  Players must have passed Learn to Skate (LTS) Level 2 (or equivalent) prior to joining the LTP program.

The LTP registration fee does not include the required equipment, see list below.  The Utah Junior Grizzlies have been in contact with the KORTH REBELS FOUNDATION, which can provide used equipment through its exchange program at no cost: https://korthrebels.com/equipment-exchange.  If interested, players should contact Donald Korth, krfhockey@gmail.com or (801) 450-3614.
